How do you know when the artifact was made???

There were different eras in ancient Egypt and different tings happened in those times, like the 10 plagues,  the time of the Hebrew slaves and Moses. So when these different things happened there were different tings that people drew and did. E.g.: when the Egyptians went through the 10 plagues they drew  pictures of blood , death and killing. This is how you can tell that this was the time of the 10 plagues.

You can also tell by the way that pottery was made. In the early ancient Egyptian times they invent lots of great things but as people grew old , more people came up with better ideas, so they wouldn’t break or hold more. The newer generations also invented new and better things to use.

A headrest

The Egyptians used a headrest as a pillow. This headrest isn’t comfortable because it doesn’t having padding where you would put your head.

These headrests were very common in the ancient times to use when sleeping or lying down. Sometimes they would be plain wood or they could be carved with different shapes and drawings. When they had carving and drawing on them it meant that the Egyptians wanted to keep the evil spirits away from them and others.

This headrest has a stand that supports a curve which sits on top of that. It was made with a curve at the top so the Egyptians had wouldn’t roll off the headrest.

When the headrests were first invented they were made out of stone which wasn’t as comfortable as wood. The wood one were known to be a little wit warmer for some reason when the people were using them.

The ancient Egyptians also used these headrests when people passes away, and when they were in a tomb, they sat it would prevent from their heads falling off.

Why was it important?

The headrest was an important thing in the era because it was special with the decorations and drawing that were carved on it . It was also something that all of the Egyptians used to be comfortable when relaxing and also sleeping.
